Event Perception Study 1 (Jaunary 2017)
Additional information for participants.
The primary purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between sleep-related factors and memory accuracy. Because a crime can occur at any time, day or night, eyewitnesses to crimes will vary in how alert or sleepy they are. We asked each study participant questions about sleep quality, amount of sleep, and current level of sleepiness. We also measured how accurately each participant remembered details of the brief video they watched, and face recognition accuracy. The information from studies like this will help us learn about the extent to which sleep-related factors influence the accuracy of eyewitness reports.
